Lip Injections in Hot Springs
Lip injections are a form of dermal fillers designed exclusively to give the lips a fuller, plumper, more defined appearance. We offer several derma filler options for lips, including Restylane Silk. Restylane Silk is FDA-approved for lip augmentation by injection. These injections are smooth gel fillers used to instantly increase fullness around the mouth and smooth away wrinkles.
Just one treatment can give you lovely, natural-looking results. Our dermal fillers work to ease smile lines and vertical lip lines and to restore your natural lip fullness and contours. Many fillers are also infused with lidocaine (a numbing agent) to ensure your comfort during the procedure.
All lip injections are performed in our office and by a maxillofacial surgeon. The procedure is very fast–just a few moments–and often, our patients receive treatments on the same day as their initial consultation.
How Long Do Lip Injections Last?
The lifespan of your lip injections depends on which type of injection you receive and how much is injected. Generally, collagen injections last about three months while dermal fillers last around 6 to 18 months. Ask your surgeon about the expected shelf-life of your desired dermal filler.
What Should the Lip Injection Procedure Look Like?
Any lip injection procedure should only be completed by a qualified medical professional. Never allow someone without the proper credentials to perform a lip injection on you. All of our lip injection procedures are completed personally by our cosmetic surgeons.
Consultation
First, one of our surgeons will sit down with you and conduct a consultation. He will ask you questions about your desired results and overall beauty goals. He will perform an assessment of your facial proportions and offer suggestions and advice about the size, contour, and type of filler that will help you achieve the best results.
We want you to feel as comfortable and safe as possible while you are meeting with your facial surgeon. Try to be as honest and open as you can be about the results you would like to see for the best outcome.
The Injection
If you choose to go forward with the injection, the surgeon will sterilize the site of injection and then perform the injection. The whole procedure usually takes less than 15-20 minutes.
Depending on your procedure, the surgeon will likely inject your top lip first and then balance out the proportions on the lower lip. They may mold the filler a little with their fingers to get the perfect shape.
Do Lip Injections Hurt?
Our lips have a lot of nerve endings, which makes them the most uncomfortable place to inject derma filler. Most injectables are infused with lidocaine to numb your mouth, but once it wears off, you’ll likely experience a little discomfort for several hours afterward because the skin of your lips is being stretched in an unfamiliar way.
Using a combination of numbing cream and anti-inflammatories will drastically reduce any discomfort you may feel and you should be completely recovered within two to three days.
Final Check
Unlike Botox, you should see the results of your lip injections immediately. If you are happy with the results, you’re good to go! But if you would like to see more dramatic results, let the surgeon know and they’ll go over your options with you. It is always possible to do a second injection.
